Install AssayNet LIMS

This activity describes the installation process for the AssayNet LIMS Access version. It provides guidance on which version to install, outlines the system requirements, and describes the necessary steps to ensure a correct and functional installation.

For new installations, the SSE files (Secure Setup Executable files used to install the Access application) are typically placed in the LIMS folder on your shared network drive, managed by AssayNet LIMS support. New releases can be downloaded from the Datamine Support Portal.

Before You Begin

  1. Ensure you have administrator rights on the computer.
  2. If a previous version of AssayNet LIMS is installed, uninstall it using the Control Panel.

Installation Requirements

  • Microsoft Access 2019 or later (the full version is recommended).
  • Microsoft Access Runtime is acceptable if the full version is not available.
    Note: Both LIMS 316 and 310 installers will automatically install Access Runtime if required.

The default installation folder is C:\Program Files\AssayNet LIMS-Bit Version-Version Number.

Activity Steps

  1. Browse to the LIMS folder on the shared network and locate the LIMS setup file. Four versions are available:
    • AssayNetLIMS_310_x32.exe—32-bit version
    • AssayNetLIMS_310_x64.exe—64-bit version
    • AssayNetLIMS_316_x32.exe—32-bit version
    • AssayNetLIMS_316_x64.exe—64-bit version
    Recommended: Always use the latest version—either AssayNetLIMS_316_x32.exe or AssayNetLIMS_316_x64.exe. The latest version requires Microsoft Access 2019 or later.
  2. Select the installer that matches your Microsoft Office bit version.
    Note: If the computer does not have Microsoft Office installed, it is recommended to use the 316 version files (either 32-bit or 64-bit), as the Access Runtime application is included with the installer.
  3. To verify your Microsoft Office bit version:
    1. Open any Microsoft Office application.
    2. Click File in the top menu.
    3. Select Account from the navigation pane on the left.
      Note: If you do not see Account, select Help instead.
    4. Under Product Information, click About.
    5. The bit version (32-bit or 64-bit) will be displayed at the top of the window.
  4. Copy the required LIMS SSE Setup file to your local computer.
  5. Double-click the required version file to launch the installer.

    The AssayNet LIMS Install screen appears.

  6. Select whether to Place shortcut on Desktop. If selected, a shortcut icon will be created on the desktop.
  7. Click Next.

    The AssayNet LIMS License Agreement displays.

  8. Select I have read this, understand and agree to it.
  9. Click Next.

    The installation wizard installs AssayNet LIMS (and Access Runtime if required).

  10. Select whether to Open the AssayNet LIMS program when you click OK. If selected, the application opens after the installation completes.

  11. Click OK.

    The installation wizard closes, and if selected, the AssayNet LIMS shortcut appears on the desktop.
