Add Samples Manually in a Sample Batch

Manual entry to a sample batch is most suitable when the batch contains only a few samples. For larger batches, more efficient methods are available. These are Use the Wizard to Add Samples in a Sample Batch or Import Samples in a Sample Batch.

Activity Steps

  1. Add a Sample Batch.

    The Edit Samples screen displays.

  2. Enter the Client ID as the sample ID in the Sample Detail field group. A client ID can contain up to 255 characters and does not need to be unique.

  3. Complete the following fields as required:

    • Location

      Note: Sample Location is an export configuration option within the AssayNet LIMS. However, not all projects are configured to utilize this feature; hence, not all samples will have an associated sample location. For projects that are set up to export using the sample location, this information is loaded into the sample when a series is created .

    • Sample Type

    • Prep Code

    • Sample Date

    • Time

    • Shift
  4. Click the Next icon (right arrow) to move the sample to the main sample table.
  5. Repeat steps 2 to 4 to add additional samples.
  6. To edit a sample ID before logging the batch:

    1. Select the sample from the main table.
    2. Update the Client ID in the Sample Detail field group.

      Note: If you entered the wrong number of samples in the previous screen, you can click Add in the menu to increase the number of samples or Delete to reduce the number of samples. Alternatively, you can click Cancel in the Edit Samples screen to modify the No. of Samples in the Add Sample Batches screen.

  7. Click Receive All in the menu to receive all the samples entered.

    The Lab Code is populated for this sample batch.

    Important: If you exit the window before receiving all the samples, you will need to re-start the process.

  8. Click OK in the Add Sample Batch screen.

  9. To edit a sample ID after the batch is logged:

    1. On the Job Book, click Sample Batches.

    2. Select the sample batch.

    3. Click Edit in the menu.

      The Edit Sample Batch screen displays.

    4. Click Samples.

      The Edit Samples screen displays.

    5. Select the sample from the main table.
    6. Update the Client ID in the Sample Detail field group.

    7. Click OK.
