Create Fractions

Analysis fractions in AssayNet LIMS function similarly to preparation products, but they are positioned further down the analytical chain. While the use of multiple fractions is uncommon in mineral analysis, every analysis code must include at least one analysis fraction. You can create one analysis fraction per method.

Fractions are assigned as part of the analysis code configuration, and together with analyte schemes, templates, and other parameters, they help define how the analysis is performed for each method in the laboratory. Proper configuration of analysis fractions ensures that results are correctly organized and associated with the appropriate stage of the analytical workflow.

Activity Steps

  1. On the Profile ribbon tab, under the Analysis group, click Fractions.

    The Analysis Fractions screen displays.

  2. Click New.

The Add Analysis Fraction screen displays.

  3. Complete the following fields as required:
    • Analysis Method—Select the corresponding analysis method for the fraction.
    • Analysis Fraction—Enter a unique and identifiable name for the fraction. You can use the same name as the one used for the corresponding method.
    • Description—Enter additional context or notes to help identify or differentiate the fraction.
  4. Click OK.
