Create Users
This activity describes how to create new users and update passwords for existing users in AssayNet LIMS. The system uses SQL-based authentication, which means each user is linked to a SQL login with access to the site's operational database. Creating a new user requires elevated permissions, typically granted to a site supervisor or designated personnel. Attempts to create a new user without the required permissions and server-level access results in an error. If this occurs, contact AssayNet Support or your IT department to request the necessary role assignment.
All users in AssayNet LIMS must be assigned to a group. These user groups define security categories that determine which actions each user can perform within the system. By configuring group permissions, supervisors can ensure that can users access only the functions appropriate to their roles. During initial implementation, users are often assigned to the db_owner group by default, which grants full permissions across the LIMS. You can adjust this setting as needed to match each user's responsibilities and enforce appropriate security controls.
Note: The configuration of security groups is outside the scope of this activity. For more information on how to add and configure security groups, please contact AssayNet LIMS Support.
