Maintaining Client Groups
A client group is a collection of Clients.
A client group is created to allow for easy searching of jobs.
Client Group Scope
Client groups are created either with org-scope or lab-scope. An organisation or laboratory can contain multiple client groups.
Properties of a Client Group
A client group can have:
- A biofield group—A client group can be linked to a biofield group so that when a job is linked to a client in the client group, then the biofields in the group are added to the job.
Use of Client Groups
Clients are added to groups to allow for the categorisation of multiple clients by an organisation or laboratory. Client groups are created for any logical assembly of clients required. This could include creating client groups for:
- Clients that belong to the same company
- Line of business or individual analysis requirements (for example, by metallurgy testing, toxicity testing and so on) for reporting purposes
- Clients that have the same sample or test types
- Clients that submit bulk samples for testing
- Clients that generate specific revenue figures annually from jobs submitted
- Clients that are long term customers.
Each client in a client group maintains their individual configurations, as the client group does not impose any additional settings on the clients within the group.
Client groups can be used for custom queries and reports.
Creation and Maintenance of Client Groups
At organisation level, users with Organisation Manager privileges can create client groups.
At laboratory level, users with Laboratory Manager and Office Manager user privileges can create and maintain client groups.
Client groups can be created and maintained using the CCCLGP—Client Group application, which is also accessed using the Registration Setup » Client Groups menu option.
Dependencies and Restrictions on Client Groups
An organisation client group can only contain organisation clients. Client groups created at laboratory level can contain both organisation and laboratory clients.
Client groups must have the Is Active check box to be checked in the client group record in order for clients to be added or removed. A non-active client group does not affect the active status of the clients within the group.
