Maintaining Tray Container Types
A tray container type denotes a type of vessel used to hold multiple single portions for analysis, where the portions are all contained within the same type of container. A QC mask is linked to a tray container type to specify the size of rack layout when applying the QC mask to a sample stream, for example, when appending or overwriting QC samples for a job. A tray is sometimes referred to as a rack, however, a rack has a set grid layout, whereas often a tray can contain multiple samples with the potential to squeeze in more samples.
Container Type Scope
Container types are created either with org-scope or lab-scope. An organisation or laboratory can contain multiple container types.
Container types are scoped by capacity type (container types are used for single container types, tray container types and multiple container types).
Properties of a Container Type of a Tray Capacity Type
A tray container type has:
- A container name syntax used to generate new container codes
- Default number of containers
- Number in tray row
- Stock item and description.
Use of Container Types of a Tray Capacity Type
A job scheme's samples, that is, each sample scheme linked to the job scheme, is assigned to a rack of a given size. The rack is a container type that has a capacity type of tray. Typically, a piece of each sample is processed and placed optionally in containers of single capacity type, and then each portion (in a container or not) is placed a racks for testing. These pieces of samples are called aliquots. Any sample that remains after the piece is taken for the test is returned to sample storage for usage by other tests.
