Conditions for Weight and Volume Propagation

Where a workbook or instrument capture session's Data Mode is Weight/Volume mode and a Numeric Final Value is entered for a sample scheme analyte that has a Code of WEIGHT or VOLUME, when the result is persisted, then the weight or volume is propagated as follows:

  • For each sample scheme analyte in a linked sample scheme where the sample scheme analyte has a Code of WEIGHT or VOLUME, respectively, then the linked-to sample scheme analyte's Numeric Final Value is set to the linked-from sample scheme analyte's Numeric Final Value.
  • For each sample scheme analyte in the same sample scheme or linked-to sample scheme where the sample scheme analyte's Analytical Type is Analytical, Apply Correction Factor is selected, and Numeric Final Value is empty, then the sample scheme analyte's Weight or Volume property, respectively, is set to the Numeric Final Value.

Note: For linked schemes, the scheme version's analysis tolerances and allowances are ignored, and the weights and volumes are passed straight through without any further validation. Also, a linked WEIGHT or VOLUME sample scheme analyte is not re-assessed for anything and has its Workflow Status, Detection Limit Status, Limit Status, Standard Status, Precision Status, Specification Status, Composite Specification Status, and Composite QC Status set to the same as in the linked-from sample scheme analyte.

Where laboratory batch jobs are involved in the analysis, propagation to WEIGHT and VOLUME analytes and Weight and Volume properties occurs regardless of whether the laboratory batch job contains:

  • WEIGHT, VOLUME and all analytical-type analytes for both linked-from and linked-to schemes
  • WEIGHT, VOLUME and all analytical-type analytes for only the linked-from scheme
  • Only WEIGHT and VOLUME analytes for only the linked-from scheme
  • WEIGHT, VOLUME and all analytical-type analytes for only the linked-to scheme (in which case, propagation only occurs within the linked-to scheme)
  • Only WEIGHT and VOLUME analytes for only the linked-to scheme (in which case, propagation only occurs within the linked-to scheme).
