Blank Duplicate QC Sample

Description

A pair or more of blank samples that are inserted one after the other into a group of samples during sample preparation, to assess the accuracy of the sampling and sample preparation process and set the Standard Status and Precision Status. These samples are essentially duplicates of each other, that is, they are all blank QC samples except that the second and subsequent blank duplicate QC samples link to the first blank QC sample.

Properties

Primary Analytical Type Blank
Primary QC Type Code <empty>
Secondary Analytical Type Duplicate
Secondary QC Type Code The code of a QC type that has a Primary Analytical Type of Duplicate.
Duplicate Original Sample The code of a sample that has a Primary Analytical Type of Blank.
Spike Original Sample <empty>
Standard Code The code of a blank standard material.
Standard Lot Code The code of a standard lot associated with the blank standard material.

Processes used to Create Blank Duplicate QC Samples

  • Appending/Overwriting QC for a job scheme where the QC mask has a QC mask member with an Analytical Type of Blank, its QC Type Code is a QC type that has an Analytical Type of Blank, and its Secondary QC Type Code is a QC type that has Analytical Type of Blank, a Secondary Analytical Type of Duplicate, and a Linked QC Type Code matching the QC mask member's QC Type Code.
  • Creating a blank duplicate sample via the CCQCSM—QC Sample Modification application from workbook.

QC Assessments Performed

  1. Assessment of the Accuracy of Analysis, due to the fact that its Primary Analytical Type is Standard.

The sample's Primary QC Type Code must be a QC type that has an Analytical Type of Blank.

The sample's Standard Code must be a standard that has a QC Type of Blank.

The sample's Standard Lot Code must be a standard lot within the standard.

The standard lot's Specification Code must be a specification that has a Specification Type of Standard.

The specification contains limits for the matching Scheme Code, Scheme Version, Analyte Code and Internal Unit Code.

  2. Assessment of the Precision of Analysis, due to the fact that its Secondary Analytical Type is Duplicate.

The sample's Secondary QC Type Code must be a QC type that has an Analytical Type of Blank and a Secondary Analytical Type of Duplicate and a Linked QC Type Code matching the sample's Primary QC Type Code.

The sample's Duplicate Original Sample Code is the first blank sample in the pairing.
