Spike QC Sample

Description

A sample of known specification that has a portion of unknown or duplicate sample added and is inserted into a group of samples either:

  • During sample preparation to measure the ability to repeat analytical results given the preparation process, or
  • During analytical preparation or at point of analytical measurement to measure the ability to repeat analytical results given the inherent bias within the method used,

to assess the analytical method at varying concentrations of analyte and set the Standard Status.

Properties

Primary Analytical Type Spike
Primary QC Type Code <empty>
Secondary Analytical Type Duplicate
Secondary QC Type Code N/A (This is the actual content of the field, and implies that secondary assessment is not applicable.)
Duplicate Original Sample <empty>
Spike Original Sample <empty>
Standard Code The code of a spike standard material.
Standard Lot Code The code of a standard lot associated with the spike standard material.

Processes used to Create Spike QC Samples

  • Appending/Overwriting QC for a job scheme where the QC mask has a QC mask member with an Analytical Type of Spike, its QC Type Code is a QC type that has Analytical Type of Spike, and its Secondary Analytical Type not is defined.
  • Creating a spike sample via the CCQCSM—QC Sample Modification application from workbook.

QC Assessments Performed

  1. Assessment of the Accuracy of Analysis, due to the fact that its Primary Analytical Type is Spike.

The sample's Primary QC Type Code must be a QC type that has an Analytical Type of Spike.

The sample's Standard Code must be a standard that has a QC Type of Spike (or Spike or Standard if the ALLOW_STANDARDS_AS_SPIKES application preference is checked).

The sample's Standard Lot Code must be a standard lot within the standard.

The standard lot's Specification Code must be a specification that has a Specification Type of Standard.

The specification contains limits for the matching Scheme Code, Scheme Version, Analyte Code and Internal Unit Code.

The sample's Spike Original Sample Code is a client sample or duplicate sample.
