Maintaining Product Hazards
Most laboratories are dangerous places. Therefore, personal safety, personal protections and care of asset are important.
CCLAS cannot protect a person from unsafe conditions or actions, but information provided to the staff ensures that they have the details required to perform their tasks safely.
There are options within CCLAS to record special notes or hazards, or procedural processes that should be followed, but typically these are informative, rather than prohibitive, in nature. Some of this information is presentable on forms and screens, while other information is designed for inclusion on reports.
Hazards are materials that have a detrimental affect upon the health of a person or place.
An unknown sample, and therefore any related duplicate, replicate or spike QC samples, is linked to hazards through the product associated with the sample. Hazard reports are generated to indicate these relationships.
Products are linked to hazards so that unknown, duplicate, replicate and spike QC samples can link to the hazards through their linked product, for custom queries and reporting purposes. Hazardous substances are labelled to make it apparent that the substance needs consideration when it is managed.
