Maintaining Standard Groups
A standard group is a collection of standards of type standard, blank, or spike.
Standard Group Scope
Standard groups are created either with org-scope or lab-scope. An organisation or laboratory can contain multiple standard groups.
Use of Standard Groups
Standard groups provide a more thorough QC assessment by measuring performance over different result ranges, and limits over-reliance on a particular standard.
Standard groups can be used when configuring QC masks to specify the default rack layout and QC samples required for analysis. A blank, standard or spike QC mask member can be linked to a standard group so that when a blank, standard or spike QC sample is created using the QC mask member, the standard is determined from the standard group. The system selects an active standard, that has an active and non-expired standard lot, either randomly or sequentially from the standard group. A standard group can contain multiple occurrences of the same standard, to allow for the insertion of the correct number of named standards in the analytical racks generated for the sample stream to which the QC mask is applied.
As an example, if three standards are placed in a standard group and that standard group exists in a QC mask, when the QC mask is applied, then there is a different standard selected from the standard group to create the standard QC sample that is then placed into each consecutive rack. If the selection is sequential (that is, non-random), then the standards is cycled until all racks are populated.
Creation and Maintenance of Standard Groups
Standard groups are created and maintained using the CCSTGP—Standard Group application, can also be accessed using the Analysis Setup » QC Standard Groups menu option.
Standard Groups Dependencies and Restrictions
Standard groups must be made active in order to be applied to quality control processes.
