Maintaining Linked Schemes for a Scheme
A linked scheme is where the analysis is performed on the same racks of samples.
Linked job schemes share the same samples, including QC samples and rack layout, and limit which job scheme can be opened to enter weights and volumes:
-
When Creating QC Samples using QC Masks, linked job schemes are processed such that the QC masks used are from the first linked job scheme to determine the QC samples and rack layout, which is then applied to the linked job schemes.
-
QC sample additions or deletions are synchronised. Refer to Maintaining Batch Samples.
-
Job scheme links default to the linked scheme relationships contained within the master scheme, when both schemes are registered on the job.
-
When an org-scope scheme is registered on a lab-scope job, the master scheme from where linked scheme relationships are determined is the enabled-scope scheme.
-
The first linked job scheme is determined by the 'from' and 'to' linked scheme relationships between the job schemes, such that, the 'from' job scheme is deemed the first linked job scheme, regardless of where it is registered in the job. Where more than one scheme link relationship is in play, that is, multiple 'from' linked job schemes exist in the job, then the first (by job scheme registration sequence) is used as the first linked job scheme. Examples: Where a job has schemes A, B and C registered in that sequence, and linked job schemes A-->C and B-->C exist, then A is the primary 'from' linked job scheme as it is registered before B. Where a job has schemes C, B and A registered in that sequence, and linked job schemes A-->C and B-->C exist, then B is the primary 'from' linked job scheme as it is registered before A.
Linked sample schemes control whether weights and volumes are transferred from one sample scheme to a linked sample scheme after Opening a Workbook Session in Weight/Volume mode and entering a weight or volume, since linking denotes that the same aliquot is used for both schemes:
-
Only the first linked job scheme is allowed to be opened in Weight/Volume mode.
-
Sample scheme links default to the linked scheme relationships contained within the master scheme, when both schemes are registered on the sample.
-
When an org-scope scheme is registered on a lab-scope sample, the master scheme from where linked scheme relationships are determined is the enabled-scope scheme.
A scheme link relationship is comprised a 'from' scheme and a 'to' scheme, and a precursor scheme relationship is comprised a precursor scheme and a sequel scheme. These relationships affect the process of appending/overwriting QC for a job, and adding QC to a laboratory batch, as follows:
-
Where a scheme is a linked scheme and it is the 'from' scheme in that link, and the scheme has a precursor scheme, but the 'to' scheme in that link does not have the same precursor scheme, then a logical precursor scheme relationship is made between the 'to scheme and the 'from' scheme's precursor scheme. For example, given:
ANAPREP
|
precursor
|
ANA1A from=linked=to ANA1Bthen a logical precursor relationship is made between ANA1B and ANAPREP.
-
Where a scheme is configured in conflicting flows, that is, the scheme is a linked scheme and it is the 'from' scheme in that link, and the 'to' scheme in that link is configured as the 'from' scheme's precursor scheme, then the scheme link relationship takes precedence over the precursor scheme relationship to define the precursor flow. For example:
ANAPREP
|
precursor
|
ANA1A from=linked=to ANAPREPthen ANA1A is deemed to be the precursor of ANAPREP. In this scenario, it is advisable that the schemes are configured appropriately.
Job and Sample Scheme Links
Job scheme link relationships and sample scheme link relationships default to the scheme link relationships on the master scheme (from org-scope scheme link relationships when an org-scope scheme is registered and not from the enabled-scope scheme, or from lab-scope scheme link relationships when a lab-scope scheme is registered), but may be maintained on job schemes or sample schemes.
