Using Organisational Schemes vs Laboratory Schemes

Overview

CCLAS 6 can create schemes at three different scopes:

  1. Organisation-scope—Schemes that are created within an organisation, and used to add limits to org-scope specifications, register tests on samples in org-scope template jobs, and can be enabled for use by all laboratories within the organisation.
  2. Enabled-scope—Schemes that are created within a laboratory by enabling org-scope schemes for use in that laboratory, and used to add limits to lab-scope specifications and register tests on samples in lab-scope jobs.
  3. Laboratory scope—Schemes that are created within a laboratory, and used to add limits to lab-scope specifications and register tests on samples in lab-scope jobs.

Schemes created at the organisation level, that is, org-scope schemes, are regarded as master schemes for those companies with a head organisation to many laboratories structure.

Process

Registering Schemes by Scope

Org-scope schemes can be added to an org-scope template job using Maintaining Template Jobs and Samples.

Org-scope schemes can be added to a lab-scope job, or any job type, by first enabling the org-scope scheme for use in the laboratory, and then by using Maintaining Sample Tests.

Lab-scope schemes can be added to a lab-scope job.

The scope of the scheme and the job or sample determines from which scope of scheme, scheme version or scheme version that properties are applied to a sample scheme or job scheme.
