Maintain custom attribute types
To search for custom attribute types:
- Access the MSECAT—Custom Attribute Types application from the main menu or quick launch to display the MSECAT—Search Custom Attribute Types screen.
- Enter search criteria, as required, in one or more of the following fields: Name, Label, Category Name.
- Click Submit to display custom attribute types that match the criteria.
To create a custom attribute type:
- Access the MSECAT—Custom Attribute Types application from the main menu or quick launch to display the MSECAT—Search Custom Attribute Types screen.
- Click New to display the MSECAT—Custom Attribute Types Detail screen.
- Click
to create a new grid row. - Enter the following fields: Attribute Type, Label, Data Type.
- Specify the content based on the type of data contained within the custom attribute:
- If the Data Type is Integer/Decimal, enter the Start Value and End Value.
- If the Data Type is Decimal, enter the Scale.
- If the Data Type is String, enter the Field Length.
- If the Data Type is List, then:
- Select the List Values tab.
- Click
to create a new grid row. The system generates the Sequence. - Enter the Code and Description.
- Repeat steps 2—3 to add other list values, as required.
- Click Submit to add the attribute type.
To review a custom attribute type:
- Search for custom attribute types.
- Open the required custom attribute to display the MSECAT—Custom Attribute Types Detail screen.
To update a custom attribute type:
- Search for custom attribute types.
- Open the required custom attribute to display the MSECAT—Custom Attribute Types Detail screen.
- Update the content based on the type of data contained within the custom attribute, as required.
- To add a category to the custom attribute type:
- Select the Categories tab .
- Click
to create a new grid row. - Enter the Category Name.
- Repeat steps b—c to add other categories, as required.
- To add a category to the custom attribute type:
- Select the Categories tab .
- Click
Grid row delete on one or more rows containing the list values to be deleted. Rows flagged for deletion are highlighted.
- To define validation rules for the custom attribute type:
- Select the Validation tab.
- Select the Service Name, Service Operation and Service Field to which the validation rules will apply.
- Click Submit to populate the grid with the current validation rules for the service, operation and field.
- Click
to create a new grid row. - Enter the Literal value and Service Field related to the Literal.
- Repeat steps d—e to add other validation rules, as required.
- Click Submit.
To delete a custom attribute type, providing it has been removed from use in screens and services:
- Search for custom attribute types.
- Open the required custom attribute to display the MSECAT—Custom Attribute Types Detail screen.
- Locate the attribute to be removed.
- Select the custom attribute types to be deleted.
- Click Delete to display the Confirm dialog box.
- Click Confirm to delete the custom attribute type.
