Maintain security roles

Access the MSESEC—Security application from the main menu or quick launch to display the MSESEC—Search Security screen.

To create a custom security role:

1. Click New to display the MSESEC—Security Detail screen.
2. Enter the Role Name and Role Description.
3. Click Submit.
4. Proceed to maintain rights and users for the custom security role.

To search for security roles:

1. Enter the relevant search criteria.
2. Click Search to display security roles that match the criteria.

To export security roles:

1. Select the individual custom security roles required for export.
2. Click Export.
3. Click on the Click to Download pop-up window that is shown on the bottom-right of the form to download a file with a name similar to mserig-export.json into your Windows Download Folder on the local device.

To import security roles:

1. Click Import to display the Import dialog box.
2. Locate and open the json file.
3. Click OK to import the security roles from the json file.

To update a security role:

1. Search for, and open, the security role to display the MSESEC—Security Detail screen.

2. Update the fields, as required.

   Note: The Role Name field cannot be updated.

3. Click Submit.

To create a security role from an existing security role:

1. Search for, and open, the security role to display the MSESEC—Security Detail screen.

2. Click Save As to display the Save As dialog box.
3. Enter the New Role Name and New Role Description for the new security role.
4. Click OK to copy the security role to the new security role and display the MSESEC—Security Detail screen.
5. Update fields, as required for the new security role.
6. Click Submit.

To delete a security role:

1. Search for, and open, the security role to display the MSESEC—Security Detail screen.

2. Click Delete to display the Confirm Delete dialog box.
3. Click Confirm to delete the security role. An error is raised if the security role is linked from any entity, in which case, it cannot be deleted.
