When determining a sample's Workflow Status through a cascade, if any analytical preparation or analytical sample scheme is in a Started status:

If the setting is enabled (default on deploy), any related sample preparation schemes that are not already completed will have their Workflow Status set to Completed.

If the setting is disabled (or if the preference is missing), the Workflow Status of related sample preparation schemes remains unchanged.
This has an impact on whether the sample's Workflow Status and job's Workflow Status can ultimately become Completed or not.
Typically the preference is not set at role or user level.
