Batch Operations

Laboratory Batch Jobs

Samples from jobs belonging to different clients or projects are batched together into a laboratory batch job for efficient throughput of analytical preparation and analysis.

Samples batched together generally share common analysis. Results entered against a sample in a laboratory batch job is stored directly to the original component jobs. Weights and volumes captured against sample schemes in laboratory batches are copied back to the original job's sample scheme where the batch environment is configured to do this.

After a laboratory batch job is created, the samples within the batch are maintained, as required.

Instrument Run Files

A laboratory run file is a grouping of samples from many jobs, for analysis by a particular instrument and scheme(s). The file is typically uploaded to the instrument so that the instrument software uses it to determine the details of each sample analysed on the instrument, for inclusion in its output result file.

Subcontract Batch Jobs

Samples from jobs belonging to different clients or projects, that require common analysis that the laboratory cannot perform, are batched together into a subcontract batch job for sending to the subcontracting laboratory.

Ready and Waiting States on Samples

Before a sample scheme/analyte is locatable by a batch sample search, the sample scheme/analyte must be ready for analysis, as opposed to being in a waiting state. Waiting times are set on sample scheme/analytes for this purpose.
