Maintain product costs

Use this activity to define costs for products used during the drill and blast workflow. Product costs can be edited in the grid or exported to a CSV file, updated outside DataBlast and imported again.

Activity steps:

1. On the DataBlast application menu, click Blast Costs Maintenance.

   The Blast Cost Items Maintenance screen displays.

2. Select the Product Costs tab.

   All configured products display in a filterable spreadsheet-style grid. For each product, there is a row for each possible Cost Source (Design Cost, As-Built Cost and Design & As-Built Cost). Each product and cost source row is greyed out until a cost is specified for that product and cost source.

3. To adjust the text size, click Zoom In or Zoom Out as required.
4. To edit a product cost:
   1. Select whether to make the Cost Active.
   2. Select the Cost Basis from Single, Length, Mass and Volume.
   3. Select the Effective Date.

      When you edit the effective date, the previous entry is retained as a historical cost. Historical cost entries are retained so that reports can be generated using the prices that applied at the report date.

   4. Enter the Unit Price.
   5. Select the Cost Units; that is, the unit of measurement of the Unit Price. The cost unit does not need to match the product’s own unit of measure because any required unit conversions are applied automatically when generating a blast costing report.
5. To export product costs:
   1. Use the Show... checkboxes and filter row tools to display only the product cost rows to export. If the grid is not filtered, all product cost rows are exported.
   2. Click Export Product Costs.

      The Product Costs Export screen displays.

   3. Enter the Output File.
   4. Select the Field Delimiter, Decimal Separator and Thousands Separator settings required for the CSV file.
   5. Click Export.
6. To update exported product costs in the CSV file:
   1. Open the exported CSV file.

      Note: The CSV file contains the Product UID, Product Name, Product Type, Pricing Type, Units, Current Price and New Price columns. Do not delete or rename these columns.

   2. Enter the updated product cost values in the New Price column.

      Note: Leave New Price blank for rows that should not be changed.

   3. Save and close the CSV file.

      Note: Close the CSV file before importing it. If the file is open in another application, DataBlast cannot read it.

7. To import updated product costs:
   1. Click Import Product Costs.

      The Product Costs Import screen displays.

   2. Enter the Import File.
   3. Select the Field Delimiter, Decimal Separator and Thousands Separator settings used in the import file.
   4. Click Read.

      The Imported Costs and Unmatched Costs lists display. Only matched rows with a value in the New Price column are imported.

   5. Select the Effective Date, or click Now to use the current date and time.
   6. Click Import.

      The imported changes display in the Product Costs grid. Select Show Changed Costs to show only changed rows if required.

8. Click Save Changes.
