Troubleshooting

In addition to the error logging configured via the Service Control > Service settings in the DataBlast Client, and in the Windows Event Manager, DataBlast Pro includes the following troubleshooting tools.

Log viewer

You can configure diagnostic logging via Site Maintenance > Service Control > Service in the DataBlast Client. See Configure error handling and logging for the DataBlast Service.

The locations for log files are the DataBlast subfolders under C:\ProgramData\Datamine. You can import as many log files as required. Log files can be for different applications; for example, you can import log files for the DataBlast Service, DataBlast Client and for BlastPad.

Activity steps:

  1. In the Windows Start menu, select All Apps > Datamine > DataBlast Log Viewer; or in the DataBlast installation folder, double-click DataBlast Server\Log Viewer\DataBlast.LogViewer.exe.

    The DataBlast Log Viewer displays.

  2. Click the ellipsis (...) to browse for the SQLite database files to use for DataBlast logs. The database file can be in any folder. Default: C:ProgramDataDatamineDATAMINE.LogViewer.db

Note: If the selected database file does not exist, a prompt displays to create it. Click OK to confirm the database creation. The required database tables are created automatically if required.

  3. Import log files as required:
    1. Click Import File(s).

      The Import File(s) screen displays.

    2. Click the ellipsis (...) to browse for and select log files.
    3. Select whether to Replace Existing Records.
    4. Click Import.
  4. To limit the records by start date:
    1. Check Show Records From.
    2. Enter a start date and time.
  5. To limit the records by end date:
    1. Check Show Records Until.
    2. Enter an end date and time.
  6. Enter the number of Hours Offset from GMT to Local time if required.
  7. Click Retrieve Data.

You can group, sort and filter records as required.

Database extractor

Use the Database Extractor if your database is large (for example, 10GB+) and if Datamine Support requests only an extract of your data.

Activity steps:

  1. In the Windows Start menu, select All Apps > Datamine > DataBlast Database Extractor; or in the DataBlast installation folder, double-click DataBlast Server\DataBlast Database Extractor\DataBlastDatabaseExtractor.exe.

    The DataBlast Database Extractor displays.

Note: The default settings are read from the configured database connection settings. See Configure database connection settings.

  2. Select the Server Name.
  3. Select the Authentication from:
    • Windows Authentication
    • SQL Server Authentication: Enter the User Name and Password.
  4. Select the Database Name.
  5. Select the Encrypt value required for the SQL Server environment.
  6. Select whether to Trust Server Certificate.
  7. Update the Database Timeout if required. Default: 0 milliseconds.
  8. Click Next.

  11. Click Next.

  13. Click Next.
  14. Click Start Extraction.
