Add or Remove Assignment
You use this screen to add or remove resources.
Note: Assigning multiple resources to a task does not implicitely multiply the production rate. For example, if you have two resources working at a rate X, this does not mean that the task will progress at a rate 2*X. For this to happen, an additional setting is required on the Task Information form.
Field | Description |
<name of resource> | The name that you gave the resource when you added it using the Resource Information screen - General tab. |
Assign to task | The value of this field is with the task ID, if you are assigning the resource to one task, or Selected tasks, if you are assigning the task to a group of tasks. |
Number Of | The number of resources of this type required for the
duration of the task.
This field is not active if you select Effort. |
Production Rate | By default, this fields displays the Production Rate that
you assigned to this resource when you created it. This is the only time that the default production rate of the resource is read.
You can accept this value or enter a new one. This field is not active if you select Required. |
Select from production rate table | Select this field if you want to have the Production Rate selected from the production rate table, which is setup using the Project Settings screen and assigned to the Resource in the Resource Information screen. |
Driving | Select this field if the task duration depends on this
resource (the number of the resource and the rate are both variable).
Both the Number Of and the Production rate fields activate. Enter the required data to determine the duration of the task.
|
Required | Select this field if the task duration depends on the
number of resources required for the duration of the task (the rate is
not applicable).
This means that a task exists with a certain quantity of work to be done and the resources assigned will be required for the entire duration of the task. Simply put, this means "Given this task with this quantity and this duration (specified in the Task Information screen), how many resources are available to complete this task?"
|
Effort driven | Select this field if the number of the resources is calculated
from the task and the resource rates.
This means that you have a task with a quantity. If this field is selected, this means that if you have a task with a quantity (such as tonnage) that will proceed at a particular Production Rate (specified in the Task Information screen), the task has a defined duration. When you assign the resource, the Number Of units is calculated as if you are asking "I want to proceed with this task at a rate X. If the resource available can work at a rate Y, how many resources are required?" - that means X/Y resources are required. |
Add | Click to add the selected resource to the task. |
Remove | Click to remove the selected resource from the task. |
