Datamine Task Scheduler 4.0 Release Notes

DTS 4.0 Features

Datamine Task Scheduler (DTS) is the successor to Enhanced Production Scheduler (EPS). EPS is discontinued.

DTS can schedule both production and non-production tasks such as maintenance, workplace preparation and shift changes. Mine planners can interactively update schedule rules and dependencies between tasks or use advanced levelling algorithms to automatically resolve scheduling conflicts. Gantt charts and many other reports provide operations with rich mine planning reports.

Integration of DTS in Studio mine design software enables mine engineers to dynamically and interactively see the effects of changing designs and updated reserves on schedules.

Updated DTS documentation can be accessed by your application but also by visiting docs.dataminesoftware.com/.

DTS and EPS

DTS and EPS are different products, with their own licenses.

You can't upgrade EPS 3.0 using the DTS 4.0 installer package.

You can, however, install both products simultaneously. This may be useful, for example, if working with a legacy Studio OP version (prior to 4.0) and a newer Studio UG version (4.0 or later) and you need to use an activity scheduler in both, you'll need both EPS and DTS installed, and each licensed separately.

If you are concerned about the interplay between these products or licensing arrangements for EPS, DTS or Studio products, please contact your local Datamine office for guidance. Whatever it is, we'll work it out.

Product Licensing

Datamine Task Scheduler requires a dedicated license, available from your Datamine office.

Important: You can't activate DTS using an EPS license.

DTS is supported by its own visualization application - DTS InTouch.

For more information about DTS and DTS InTouch licensing, please contact your local Datamine office.

Product Compatibility

DTS can be used to create and fine-tune schedules based on output from these or later versions of these products:

  • Studio OP 4.0

  • Studio UG 4.0

Important: You cannot connect these Studio product versions to EPS. See above for important licensing information.

DTS InTouch

Datamine Task Scheduler data can be viewed as a 3D animation, reflecting the progression of the schedule and associated dependent tasks. To support the launch of DTS, a new viewer product - DTS InTouch - has been created.

DTS InTouch is based on the previous viewer, EPS InTouch. DTS InTouch will continue to be developed in future to provide new and improved schedule visualization options.

Converting EPS Projects

You can open legacy EPS projects in DTS.

You don't want to have to open each legacy EPS schedule in DTS just to convert it to the new format. This can also be achieved using a handy utility that lets you perform this conversion on either a single or multiple EPS projects.

There are two ways to do this:

  • Command Line

    1. Start eps with the argument: /convertfolder:@yourFolderFilePath

    2. Replace @yourFolderFilePath with the folder that contains the EPS files. This will also then create another folder named converted within @yourFolderFilePath containing newly generated DTS files.

  • Macro

    • Run the macro 'ConvertToDts', this will bring up a folder dialog requesting the folder which contains the EPS schedules that need to be converted to DTS.
