Generate Filters Automatically

To access this screen:

  • Data ribbon >> Advanced Filter >> Generate AutoFilters.

Use this screen to automatically generate a set of filters to constrain the view of data in the task and Crosstab views.

Activity steps:

  1. Select a cell in a column of the task or Crosstab view.
  2. Click Generate AutoFilters.

The Generate AutoFilters screen displays, with the name of the currently active column shown in the Field cell.

  3. Add one or more fields by selecting another Field to generate filters based on attribute value combinations.

  4. Click Generate.

  5. Expand the Auto Filters list.

Providing there weren't too many filters to generate, a list of filters displays (one for each unique value or value combination), for example, if Description and Name were selected, a list of all combinations of unique values of both fields displays in the Auto Filters list.

  6. Select the appropriate filter from the list to apply the filter.

The information displayed in the task or Crosstab view is filtered to show only data that passes the selected filter.
