General Settings: Period Quantities

To display this screen:

Period Quantities are the values of a Production Field broken into time periods. A Production Field stores a numeric quantity on a task, such as tonnes, volume, metres, grade, cost, or revenue. Period Quantities show how that quantity is distributed across the schedule timeline, rather than only as a single total value on the task.

Your application derives Period Quantities from the way work is scheduled over time, including any task splits. When a task is split, each split contains a quantity (the “Value” of the driving property) and its own start and finish dates, so Datamine Task Scheduler can allocate quantities into the relevant periods.

Period Quantities are then used wherever your product needs period-based results, such as analysing production by period and comparing period results to targets.

The following table describes the fields on this screen shown below:

Field Description
Fill period by decreasing rate When selected, if a task quantity is entered for a period that would cause the duration of the task split to be less than the duration of the period, the rate of the split is changed to set the split duration to be the same as the period duration.
Maintain ratio between properties when any property is increased When selected, if one property is increased during the period editing, then all other properties are increased in the same ratio.
Merge earlier adjoining sections with identical rate When a split is created during the period editing, if it adjoins a previous split and both splits have the same rate, they are merged into a single split.
Allow editing of driving property only (if displayed) When selected, you can only change the Driving Property of a task while editing period quantities in-line in the Gantt chart.
When increasing period quantity, take from next section (instead of from end of task)

When selected, if the quantity in the period is increased, the additional quantity is taken from the next section - the one following immediately behind the period being edited.
