Models in 3D

Discover for ArcGIS Pro has the powerful ability to allow extrusion between 3D polygons to generate a solid structure. It can execute extrusion between any two polygons possessing a Z value.

Note: Polygons with no Z value can be displayed in 3D using an attribute. However, if they are not 3D polygons Discover is not able to create a model from them.

Any two 3D polygons can be joined using the Solid from Selection tool. All models created in Discover are saved as multipatch feature classes under the Models.gdb, located in the Discover Drilling Folder, in the Catalog pane.

All models created have attributes indicating their volume, surface area, and face count. These measurements are in the units of the projection of the drillhole project.

The Solid from Template tool leverages the knowledge embedded within the Section Template tool, which dictates how you intend the data to be organized in 3D space. This tool strives to amalgamate polygons from identical tables and attribute types (for example, Geology or Granite). Additionally, this tool can make use of tie-lines for enhanced accuracy
