Convert Alpha-Beta into True Dip and Dip Direction Values
Activity steps
- On the Drillhole ribbon tab, in the Analyse group, click Alpha/Beta.
The 3D Coordinates panel displays.
- Select the Structure Table which contains the alpha/beta angle data.
- Update the Source Columns:
- Alpha Angle—The acute angle (≤90°) along the major axis.
- Beta Angle—Measured clockwise from the core reference line.
- Update the Output Columns:
- Dip—The true dip.
- Dip Direction—The dip direction.
Note: If the structure table does not contain dip and dip direction columns, select <New Column> and when prompted, enter True_Dip and Dip_Direction as the new column names.
- Set the Orientation Mark used to measure the angle as either Top of core or Bottom of core.
- Set the Beta Angle Measurement as either Major Axis closest to the collar or Major Axis furthest to the collar.
- Click Generate.
