Create Polygons from a Raster

  1. On the Raster ribbon tab, in the Raster group, click Vectorize.

    The Vectorize panel displays.

  2. Select a Input grid.
  3. Name the Output feature class.
  4. Select the Create polygons mode from:
    • All grid cells—Converts each input grid cell into a square polygon in the output feature class, attributed with the grid cell value.
    • Unique grid cell values—Analyzes each unique value in the grid for contiguous areas and draws polygon boundaries around them. Produces a vector map with polygons bounding regions of homogeneous grid values, each attributed with the unique region value.
    • Contiguous grid cells—Creates a separate polygon for each contiguous area of valid (non-null) grid data.
    • Grid extents—Produces a polygon that outlines the area covered by the grid cells.
  5. Select whether to Color polygons from source grid. If the input grid is currently displayed on a map, the output polygons are colored using the same symbology and applied to the attributed value.

Note: The output polygon symbology is an approximate match and may not exactly replicate the raster symbology. If the attributed value contains a large number of unique entries, the process may take additional time.

  6. Select whether to Display polygon color. If checked, polygons display a fill color. If unchecked, they appear transparent.
  7. Select whether to Display polygon border. If checked , polygons display a border color. If unchecked, no border is shown.
  8. Click Run.
