Activating a Datamine site license

Note: This guide is intended for administrators setting up the license server. For connecting clients, see Using a site license (Datamine)

This page describes how to activate a site license using the Datamine License Manager on a dedicated server.

Note: The Datamine License Manager is supported only on Windows systems. Linux is not supported by Datamine for this component.

When to use this activation

You need to follow this procedure if:

  • Your organization is deploying a shared license pool on a central server
  • You received a 25-character Datamine license key
  • You want to allow multiple users to access the license over the network

Steps to activate the license

  1. Log into the server where the Datamine License Manager is installed
  2. Launch the Datamine License Manager as Administrator
  3. Go to the Licenses tab
  4. Click Register License Key
  5. Enter the 25-character license key
  6. Click OK to activate the license

If successful, the license will appear in the license list and become available to client workstations that are configured to use this server.

After activation

  • The license is tied to this server
  • The service will automatically start

Troubleshooting

  • Run the License Manager as Administrator
  • If the key does not work, verify that it was not already activated or expired
