Conditional Simulation

This screen is used to manage conditional simulation of stope data outputs and how these outputs are impacted by parameter changes. When active, MSO runs additional optimisation cases using modified parameter values to assess how sensitive stope shapes and outcomes are to change. If disabled, only the base optimisation is run.

Conditional Simulation allows MSO to evaluate how changes in key parameters and grade uncertainty affect stope outcomes. This helps assess robustness, risk, and sensitivity before designs are finalised.

Why you might use it

  • To understand the sensitivity of stope shapes to key parameters.

  • To compare alternative design assumptions.

  • To assess robustness where geology, costs, or constraints are uncertain.

Key point

Conditional simulation does not change the base optimisation; it supplements it with comparative cases for analysis and review.

Note: These settings were formerly found on the Sensitivities screen of MSO version 4 and earlier.
