Use the Database Upgrade Wizard to Upgrade a MineMarket Database

Use this activity to upgrade a MineMarket database using the MineMarket Database Upgrade Wizard.

This activity is only applicable to MineMarket databases hosted on SQL Server. If the MineMarket database is hosted on Oracle, use the MineMarket Database Upgrade Wizard to create an upgrade script. The script can then be run manually in an Oracle scripting environment.

Important: This activity presumes that a database for MineMarket 4.6.62 or later exists on the Database Server.

Activity Steps

  1. Close all MineMarket applications.
  2. Stop all MineMarket services.
  3. Close all connections to the MineMarket database.
  4. Back up the MineMarket database.
  5. Perform one of the following steps:
    1. Start the MineMarket Database Upgrade Wizard as a stand-alone program:
      1. Navigate to the MineMarket Server installation folder.
      2. Run MineMarket.UpgradeWizard.exe.

        Note: Only use the stand-alone program from a MineMarket installation that has already been upgraded to the required version.

    2. Start the MineMarket Database Upgrade Wizard from the MineMarket setup wizard:
      1. Run the setup file in the MineMarket installation package.

        The setup wizard displays.

      2. Click Next.

        Note: The MineMarket setup wizard checks whether some prerequisite components (for example, for Crystal Reports) are installed. If these prerequisite components are not already installed, the MineMarket setup wizard opens a separate installation for them. Follow the prompts if required or contact your System Administrator for assistance.

      3. Click Run Database Upgrade Wizard.

    The MineMarket Database Upgrade Wizard opens and displays the Upgrade Mode Selection screen.

  6. Select Connect to an existing MineMarket database; generate an upgrade script; and apply the script to upgrade the database.

    Note: This option is only applicable to MineMarket databases hosted on SQL Server. If the MineMarket database is hosted on Oracle, use the MineMarket Database Upgrade Wizard to create an upgrade script.

  7. Click Next.

    The Checklist screen displays the prerequisite steps.

  8. Check I acknowledge this checklist. I have performed the necessary steps, including backing up the MineMarket database.
  9. Click Next.

    The Folder Selection screen displays.

  10. To have the MineMarket Database Upgrade Wizard read database connection details from the ServerSettings.xml file in the MineMarket installation, browse for and select the MineMarket installation folder.
  11. Click Next.

    The Database Selection screen displays.

  12. If the database connection details have not been read from the ServerSettings.xml file:
    1. Enter the Server Name.
    2. Enter or select the Database Name.
    3. Select whether to Use Windows Integrated Security.
    4. If Use Windows Integrated Security is unchecked, enter the User ID and Password.
  13. To test the database connection details, click Test Connection
  14. Click Next.

    The MineMarket Database Upgrade Wizard connects to the database and queries it to determine the current version of the database.

    The Database Version screen displays the results of the query and a summary of the database details.

  15. Click Next.

    The Summary screen displays a summary of the actions to be taken.

  16. To preview the upgrade script before it is applied to the database, click Preview Upgrade Script

    The script displays in a pop-up window.

  17. Click Next.

    The MineMarket Database Upgrade Wizard applies the script to the MineMarket database and validates the results.

  18. If the database upgrade was successful, the Upgrade Successful screen displays.
    1. To copy the upgrade script to the clipboard, click Copy to Clipboard.
    2. To save the upgrade script as a file, click Save to File.
    3. Click Finish.

      The MineMarket Database Upgrade Wizard closes.

  19. If the database upgrade was not successful, the Errors Were Encountered screen displays the errors.
    1. Click Finish.

      The MineMarket Database Upgrade Wizard closes.

    2. Restore the MineMarket database from the backup.
  20. Exit the MineMarket setup wizard if applicable.
