Unpack a Discrete Unit Package Group

This activity unpacks selected packages or child package groups from a package group but does not delete the package group.

If the package group has child package groups, this activity unpacks the child package groups from the parent package group, but does not unpack the packages from the child package group. That is, the unpacking is only one level down in the hierarchy of nested package groups and their packages.

This activity is like releasing packages. See Release Packages from a Package Group. Unpacking is preferable if only some of the packages or package groups need to be unpacked at the one time.

Security Note: You need the Allow package group maintenance security right in the Supply Chain user group security rights group for this activity.

Activity Steps

  1. Open the Package Group (DU).
  2. Select the Manual tab.
  3. Select the Unpacking tab.
  4. To display the analyte assay values for each package, select an analyte group or Show All Analytes in Show Analyte Group.
  5. Select the date and time for the Unpack Date.

Note: The unpacking date must be after the applicable date of the latest activity of the package group.

  6. Select the packages or package groups to be unpacked.
  7. Click Unpack.

The Activity table of each package group and package displays the result of the unpacking.

  8. To undo the unpacking, right-click the unpacking activity in the Activity table of the (parent) package group and select Repack from the menu.

Note: This option to repack the packages only displays if the unpacking is the most recent activity for the package group and its packages. If packages need to be repacked later, see Repack Packages.

  9. Click Save.
