Set up an Incident Definition

Security Note: You need the Allow the user to maintain incident definitions security right in the Base Data user group security rights group for this activity.

Activity Steps

  1. Open the Incident Definition Editor.
  2. Select the node for an incident category under the Incident Categories node.
  3. Right-click in the Incidents field group and select New from the menu.
  4. Complete the following fields.
    • Name
    • Incident Code
    • Description
    • Applicable Types—At least one type must be selected. Select from:
      • Trains—Also used for supply trains.
      • Vessels—Also used for supply ships.
      • Barges
      • Trucks
      • Equipment
      • Container
    • Default Operating Capacity—Default percentage that the operation will run at due to the incident. That is, 100% means that production will still run to capacity.
    • Incident Status—Select from:
      • On Stand-By
      • Non-Maintenance Downtime
      • Planned Maintenance
      • Unplanned Maintenance
    • Reason Code List—Select from any non-predefined lists configured in the List Editor.
    • Allow Overlaps—Whether to allow incidents of this type to overlap. This setting only affects incidents on equipment and containers or the unavailability of berths. Incidents relating to despatches are not affected by this setting and can always overlap. If checked, incidents of this type can overlap incidents of the same type and incidents of any other incident type. If two different incidents definitions are set up, overlaps are only disabled if Allow Overlaps is unchecked for both. Default: Unchecked.
  5. To add an applicable measurement definition to the incident definition:
    1. Select the incident definition.
    2. Right-click in the Applicable Measurement Definitions table and select New and the required measurement definition from the menu. Select from measurement definitions set up in the Incident Definition Editor.
  6. To reorder applicable measurement definitions, right-click an applicable measurement definition and select Move First, Move Up, Move Down or Move Last as required.

Note: The order of the applicable measurement definitions in the Additional Measurement Definitions table determines the display order for incident data entry.

  7. To remove an applicable measurement definition from the incident definition, right-click the applicable measurement definition and select Remove from the menu.

Note: An applicable measurement definition can only be removed if it is not referenced by any incident measurements.

  8. Click Save.
