Barge Line-up
The Barge Line-up Explorer is used to view and calculate line-ups for service trips that have routes based on a barge terminal.
Line-up calculations are required for discharge berths. Line-up calculations enable the user to alter planned berths before service trip berthing takes place. Berthing priority is given to the service trip with the earliest actual time of arrival for the berth to which the service trip is assigned.
It is possible for more than one service trip to be waiting for discharge at a berth while other service trips are already unloading at these berths. Line-up calculations take berth unavailability into consideration, and extend line-up times accordingly.
Example: If a service trip was berthed, or about to be berthed, and the berth became unavailable for 4 hours, then the line-up calculations would be extended by 4 hours.
The berthing date, start-loading date, end-loading date, unberthing and departure dates can be calculated based on:
- The time that a service trip that is already berthed will depart (ETD)
- The time required between one service trip departing and another service trip being able to berth
- The time between berthing and starting to load
- The recorded loading rate and the total planned tonnage to be loaded onto the service trip
- The time required between ending the loading and documentation completion
- The time between unberthing and departure
Therefore, attaching and detaching service trips to a berth is part of the line-up calculations. These calculations are used to determine when and how the service trips are scheduled around a specified list of berths. This best optimises the berth usage so that service trips are not over-delivered.
The line-up calculations attempt to avoid service trip loading and unloading overlaps. By doing so, berth conflicts can be avoided or effectively managed.
