Enter General Details for a Charge

Security Note: For a contract charge template, you need the Allow the user to maintain contract charge templates security right in the Contracts domain security rights group for this activity. For a contract charge or payable analyte charge in a set of contract terms, you need the Allow contract maintenance security right in the Contracts domain security rights group for this activity.

Activity Steps

  1. Open the contract charge or payable analyte charge in the Contract Charge Templates, Sales Contract or Purchase Contract.
  2. Select the Exchange Rate Source for exchange rates from the charge currency to the primary currency used by the contract. Select from the exchange rate sources defined in the Currency/Exchange Editor. Alternatively, to override rates from the exchange rate source, Enter Fixed Exchange Rates.
  3. Select the Exchange Rate Method to determine which rate(s) to use from the Exchange Rate Source. Select from:
    • Average Quotation Period—The exchange rates for the quotation period (QP) are averaged, and the result is used to convert the charge value into the currency of the QP.
    • Daily Quotation Period Average—The charge value is converted into the currency of the QP for each day of the QP, and these converted values are then averaged.
    • Date Of Invoice (default)
    • Previous Month Average
    • Last Day Of Previous Month—Uses the last business day of the previous month if a calendar is specified for the Exchange Rate Source. If multiple calendars are specified, the last business day common to all calendars is used.
    • Day Before Invoice Date—Uses the last business day before the invoice date if a calendar is specified for the Exchange Rate Source. If multiple calendars are specified, the last business day common to all calendars is used.
    • Last Known Exchange Rate
    • Bill Of Lading—If the bill of lading date is a non-working day in the applicable calendar, uses the exchange rate from the previous business day.
    • Day Before First Invoice Date—Uses the last business day before the date of the first commercial invoice if a calendar is specified for the Exchange Rate Source. If multiple calendars are specified, the last business day common to all calendars is used.

For the options that refer to a QP, the applicable QP is determined as follows:

    • Payable analyte charges—The QP defined on the Payable Analyte node.
    • Charges that are not for a payable analyte, but are for a contract with analyte pricing—The QP defined on the Payable Analyte node for the main analyte of the contract product. For example, the product copper concentrate has multiple payable analytes: Cu, Au, Ag; however, the main analyte of the product is Cu. For a charge for bismuth, the QP average of the payable analyte Cu is used.
    • Charges for a contract with product pricing—The QP defined on the Quotation Pricing node.

If the applicable QP has multiple QP lines, each line is calculated individually before the Pricing Method of the QP header is applied.

  4. Select a Charge Concept if required. If the charge is based on a contract charge template, the charge concept is inherited from the template and is read-only. Select from the Contract Charge Concept list items defined in the List Editor.
  5. If the charge is in a set of contract terms, select Applicable Taxes if required. Not applicable to deductions, payable percentages, mass adjustments or to contract charge templates. Select from:
    • Not Taxable
    • All Taxes
    • Selected Taxes—Select from the taxes configured for the set of contract terms.
  6. Select the Evaluation Method if required. Method of evaluating a result spread over multiple transactions if several lots are used to fulfil the despatch order. Not applicable to deductions or payable percentages. Select from:
    • By Lot—Evaluate the result for each individual lot (transaction), and then aggregate the price. The samples may end up in drastically different tier levels.
    • Weighted Average (default)—Evaluate the result for the weighted average of all transactions. This method allows the whole despatch order to be considered as a whole.
