Set up a Currency
Security Note: You need the Allow the user to edit currency and exchange security right in the Currency user group security rights group for this activity. If you have the Allow the user to view currency and exchange security right in the Currency user group security rights group, you can view the currencies.
Activity Steps
- Open the Currency/Exchange Editor.
- Select the Currencies tab.
- To enter a parent currency:
- Right-click away from the currency rows and select New from the menu.
- Complete the following fields.
- ISO Symbol—Three-letter code to define the names of currencies established by the International Organisation for Standardization (ISO), as defined by international standard ISO 4217.
- Decimal Places—Number of decimal places to which to display currency amounts.
- Default—Whether the currency is the default parent currency unit. Only one default can be set.
The Symbol, Name and Description display for the selected ISO symbol.
- To enter a child currency:
- Right-click the parent currency and select New Child Currency from the menu.
Note: This option is not available if a child currency is selected, or if the selected parent currency already has a child currency defined.
- Complete the following fields.
- ISO Symbol
- Decimal Places
- Child to Parent Conversion—Number of child currency units contained in the related parent currency unit, if this currency unit is a child currency unit.
The Symbol, Name and Description display for the selected ISO symbol.
- Right-click the parent currency and select New Child Currency from the menu.
- Click Save.
