Create a Report Connection

Use this activity to create a report connection for reports, billboards or billboard charts.

Security Note: You need the Allow Report Connection maintenance security right in the Reporting user group security rights group for this activity.

Activity Steps

  1. Select the Reporting panel in the Solution Explorer.
  2. Expand the Connections node.
  3. Right-click the Connections node and select New » Report Connection from the menu.

    The Report Connection screen displays the new connection.

  4. Update the Name of the report connection if required.
  5. Update the following fields as required.
    • Connection Type—Select from Oracle Native, OracleODP, SQLServerNative (default), OleDb and Odbc.
    • Data Source—For Oracle, this is the alias name. For SQL Server, this is the name of the server to which to connect.
    • Timeout—Length of time, in seconds, that a select statement is given to execute. Default: 300.
    • Initial Catalog
  6. Select whether to Use Integrated Security of Windows.
  7. If Use Integrated Security is unchecked, enter the User ID and Password.
  8. Click Test Connection.

    A message box displays the test result.

  9. If the connection is not successful, determine the correct settings or contact your network administrator or Datamine representative.
  10.  If the connection is successful, click OK.
  11. Click Save.
