Test an Expression Using the Expression Editor

Only tested expressions display in the Expression Library when the Expression Editor is opened from within a contract.

Values that otherwise would only be available during invoicing (such as assays or weights) can be entered to test the expression.

Security Note: You need the Allow the user to maintain expressions security right in the Expression Editor user group security rights group for this activity.

Activity Steps

  1. Open the Expression Editor.
  2. Create an expression. See Create an Expression Using the Expression Editor.
  3. Select the Test Expression tab.
  4. Click Refresh.

  5. Enter the Return Value for each required function. If the function requires a date range, enter both dates.
  6. Click Evaluate.

    The outcome displays in the Result area. Any errors must be fixed before the expression can be assigned.

  7. Select the Expression Library tab.
  8. If the active expression was totally new or edited, add it to the Expression Library:
    1. Select the category into which the expression is to be placed.
    2. Right-click and select Add Expression from the menu.
  9. Check Tested Expression.
  10. Close the Expression Editor.
  11. Click Save.
