Update dated calculation constants

A dated calculation constant is a fixed or standard value that can be defined for use in calculations and subsequently updated if required. When a dated calculation constant is changed, the new value takes effect as of the specified date and remains in effect until the value is updated again.

For example, you might define a dated calculation constant for the kilolitre volume of a flotation tank. If the flotation tank is replaced, you would update the dated calculation constant with the new tank's volume and the date from which the new tank is in operation. The new value is used for all calculations from that date. Dated calculation constants may also be used for known ore quality attributes. If ore being processed has (for example) a consistent moisture content of 3% and an Ag assay range of 4% -6% , you could define these attributes as constants. When the ore quality changes, these values and ranges can be updated.

Dated calculation constants can be used for JKMetAccount integrations with Production Accounting; for example, to define standard deviation.

If parts of the plant are taken off-line or shut down, specific dated calculation constant values are used to represent this in the Production Accounting system.

Update dated constants (modern)

Note: See Modern logsheets for tips and general guidance for the modern logsheet interface.

Activity Steps

  1. Open the required Dated Calculation Constants screen.
  2. Select the date range:
    1. In the Start Date - End Date field, click the calendar icon. Calendar icon (modern)
    2. Select a date range.
    3. Click Apply.

Note: Mapped Start Date & Time and Mapped End Date & Time are read-only fields that display the show the actual start and end of the selected date range.

Note: A logsheet can display up to 100 rows of data. If your selected date range exceeds this limit, only the first 100 rows display.

The dated calculation constant data for the selected date range displays. All sections and subsections display by default.

  3. Select sections and subsections to display:
    1. Click the Section / Subsection field to open the list.
    2. Expand a section to show its subsections.
    3. Select or deselect the check boxes as required.
    4. Click outside the list to apply your changes.

The logsheet refreshes to display your selection.

  4. Click a data entry cell.

    The Edit pop-up displays.

  5. Enter a numeric constant value.

Note: Text and mathematical symbols (for example, < or >) are not permitted. For decimal values, include the leading zero before the decimal separator (for example, 0.5 or 0,5).

  6. Enter an Audit Comment if required. Audit comments are attached to the specific dated constant item you update and should explain the reason for the change. They are recorded in the Audit Log.

Note: When you edit multiple values in the same logsheet, your previous audit comment automatically displays in the next comment field. Edit it as required.

  7. Click Save.

The Edit pop-up closes. A Logsheet data saved successfully message displays.

If saving your changes triggers recalculation of other dated constant values, one or both of the following messages may also display:

    • This logsheet has pending calculations.—Displays while the server is still processing calculations.
    • Data has been refreshed.—Displays when the logsheet updates with new or recalculated data. This message may display multiple times if your changes cause the server to process several updates.
  8. Repeat steps 4-7 as required to enter more data.

The new dated constant value automatically takes effect for all calculations from the specified date onwards (or until it is updated again).

Update dated constants (legacy)

Note: See Legacy logsheets for tips and general guidance for the legacy logsheet interface.

Activity Steps

  1. Open the required Dated Calculation Constants screen.
  2. Select the date or time period using the Year, Month and Day fields.
  3. Select the Shift if required.

Note: Use the arrow buttons to select the previous or next period. Date selector previous period button Date selector next period button

  4. Click Submit.

The dated calculation constant data for the selected date or time period displays.

  5. Select a logsheet section from the list if required.
  6. If required, click Edit to make data entry cells editable.

Note: The Edit button is generally located at the bottom of the logsheet screen. You may need to scroll down to find it.

  7. Update the numeric constant values as required.

Note: Text and mathematical symbols (for example, < or >) are not permitted. For decimal values, you must include the leading zero before the decimal separator (for example, 0.5 or 0,5).

  8. Enter Audit Comments if required. Audit comments are attached to the specific data item you update and should explain the reason for the change. They are recorded in the Audit Log.
  9. Click Save.

Warning: If you go to another screen or logsheet section without clicking Save, your data entry will be lost.

The new dated constant value automatically takes effect for all calculations from the specified date onwards (or until it is updated again).
