Logsheet Data

The term 'logsheet' has a broader meaning in Production Accounting than in other contexts. Conceptually, a logsheet is a collection of data 'tags' for a defined time period, such as a shift, day or month.

In the Production Accounting application, a logsheet can be a web browser screen in which a user manually enters data or a web browser screen that displays data acquired by integration, where the user may or may not be allowed to edit that data. Logsheets can also be 'hidden' structures that do behind-the-scenes calculations or store information for business processes.

Some hidden logsheets perform similar functions as visible logsheets but are not configured to display in the user interface. Where hidden logsheets do behind-the-scenes calculations, the calculated values may or may not be referenced in other visible logsheet screens. But, these values can be viewed via the Calculation Tracer and made available to reporting systems. Logsheets that store business processes information, such as logsheet locking or inter-process communications, are also typically hidden.

Generally, the (visible) logsheets you work with in the Production Accounting web application are to view and enter plant production data for specific time periods; for example, a shift, day, or month. Logsheets can also be used for budget and forecast data and to manage the dated constant values that the application uses to perform calculations.

There are three types of logsheets:

  1. Data entry logsheets
  2. Data summary logsheets
  3. Summary view logsheets

Data entry logsheets

Data entry logsheets display plant production data—some of which may be sourced from integrated systems—and include editable cells for manual data entry.

Date selectors at the top of the screen allow you to select a date range or time period; for example, a shift, day, or month. Logsheet data for the selected period is presented in a grid-style layout, grouped into sections that represent particular processes, circuits, or equipment (for example, feeds, grinding, concentrators, tanks). You can select specific logsheet sections to view and enter data.

Data summary logsheets

Data summaries are logsheet screens that summarise plant production data for a date range or time period; for example, a shift, day, or month.

Data summaries look similar to data entry logsheets. Their interface includes a date selector, a grid-style layout and a list of logsheet sections to select from. However, the data cells in a data summary are read-only and cannot be edited.

Summary view logsheets

Summary views also present summarised data but with a different layout and screen elements. Like other logsheets, the summary view has a date selector at the top of the screen. However, all data is read-only and is presented in a static tabular layout, without a list of sections to select from.

Summary views are custom-built and are generally used for more detailed summary formats than the standard data summary logsheet.

Logsheet interfaces

Production Accounting 2.0 introduces a redesigned logsheet interface (modern interface). The modern interface provides an updated layout and improved data entry workflows, including the ability to view multiple periods on one screen. The modern interface is available for data entry and data summary logsheets. See Modern logsheets for tips and general guidelines for the modern logsheet user interface.

The logsheet interface from Production Accounting 1.14 and earlier (legacy interface) remains available in version 2.0 but may be deprecated in a future release. See Legacy logsheets for tips and general guidelines for the legacy logsheet user interface.

Note: Help activities in this section include steps for both interfaces. Use the page menu at the top to view the steps for your interface.
