Export an SSRS report
SSRS reports are usually optimised for PDF outputs and in some cases, Excel outputs. Other output formats may be available but the report configuration may not be optimised for all output files and formats.
Important: When you export an SSRS report, wait for the export to finish before you make changes on the report screen or navigate to a different report or screen. Changes made to your screen may affect the exported content.
Activity Steps
- Run the report. See Run an SSRS report.
- Click the disk icon.
- Select the required export format from the menu. The available export formats depend on the configuration of your Production Accounting system.
- Word—Exports a Microsoft Word (.docx) file.
- Excel—Exports a Microsoft Excel (.xlxs) file.
- PowerPoint—Exports a Microsoft PowerPoint (.pptx) file. Report data in tabular format is converted to image files displayed on separate slides.
- PDF—Exports a Portable Document Format (.pdf) file.
- TIFF file—Exports a Tag Image File Format (.tif) file.
- MHTML (web archive)—Exports a Mime HTML archive file, which can be viewed in a web browser.
- CSV (comma delimited)— Exports a comma delimited format Comma Separated Values (.csv) file.
- XML file with report data— Exports an extensible markup language (.xml) file.
- Data Feed—Exports an Atom Service Document (.atomvsc) file, which is an XML-formatted text file that defines how a document should reach a data source. The file does not contain report data, but includes URL links that point to an SSRS report. Atom Service Documents are commonly used with the PowerPivot add-in for Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power BI.
- Update the file name as required and save the file to an appropriate location.
