Configure Model Comparison Display

Use the Configure Display panel on the Model Comparison screen to customise how your comparison data displays.

Activity Steps

  1. Open the Model Comparison Screen.
  2. Click the Configure Display icon on the right hand tool bar.

    The Configure Display panel displays.

  3. Select a View Mode from:
    • Chart only
    • Table only
    • Chart and table
  4. Select an option to Group by (X-axis parameter); for example, Time, Metric, or Location.
  5. Select the Display mode when grouping and stacking from:
  6. If Time is selected in the Group by filter, select a Time Scale from:
    • Day
    • Month
    • Quarter
    • Year
    • Survey Period
  7. Select an option to Stack axis by. This drop-down list includes similar options to the Group by (x-axis parameter) field. You must select unique items for the X and Y axes.
  8. Select a Legend Position to set where the legend displays.
  9. Select the Left axis chart type and Right axis chart type from:
    • Auto – Allow Reconcilor determine the best way to plot the chart.
    • Line – Force the metric to be plotted as a line on the chart.
    • Column – Force the metric to be plotted as a column on the chart.
  10. Select the Chart colour preference from:
    • Auto – Use system generated colours.
    • Metric – Use measure colours as configured in the Colours Screen.
    • Measure – Use metric colours as configured in the Colours Screen.
  11. Select items to Include comparison control limits for. See Control Limit Styles for how to configure control limits.
  12. Set Apply comparison control limit colours to table values to Disabled or Enabled. If enabled, the control limit colours (as configured in the Control Limit Styles Screen) display for values in the table.
  13. Click Apply to update the screen's chart or table and keep the Configure Display panel open.
  14. Click Apply & Close to update the screen's chart or table and close the Configure Display panel.

Examples of chart options

Assume a scenario in which the following fields are selected:

On the Configure Data panel, either:

  • Resource Model (survey)
  • Grade Control Model (survey)

In this example, the chart must break down the data at three levels: the datasets, the x-axis grouping and the stacking. Below are descriptions of how each chart option handles this scenario.

Single chart

  • Keeps results together in one chart.
  • There are bars for each dataset and each pit combination and the x-axis labels are a concatenation of the dataset and the selected x-axis grouping (e.g. pit). The bars are stacked by material type.
  • The first two levels of grouping are flattened out by combining the x-axis labels.

Advantages: Can easily pan and zoom the entire chart.

Disadvantages: Concatenation of labels can be harder to read. If x-axis is configured to show time, there could be potential issues with missing periods.

Multi-chart

Using the multi-chart option, each dataset has its own chart. For example, there is a chart for Direct Feed and a chart for Mine Production.

The bars on each chart are each pit stacked by material type. There is no concatenation of x-axis labels; this is unnecessary as each dataset is now in its own chart.

Advantages: Less cluttered.

Disadvantages: No independent panning or zooming which makes side by side comparison harder. This can be problematic if many datasets are selected.

Sub-chart

This option is a technical alternative to multi-chart that is more space-efficient. It also changes the priority of the grouping.

Instead of concentrating the x-axis (like in single-chart), the chart is broken into sections (sub-charts) for each x-axis grouping. In this case, each pit has its own section of the chart. The bars are by dataset stacked by material type.

If there are many x-axis groups, then multiple rows of sub-charts are used.

Advantages: Synchronised axis pan and zoom

Disadvantages: X-axis grouping label is centre top above each sub-chart. Each sub-chart is equal size but does not necessarily have the same number of bars as shown above.
