Functionality Overview
SABLE® (Standardised Approach to Borehole Logging for Exploration and Evaluation) is a modular, enterprise-grade data management platform built specifically for the needs of the exploration and mining industry. It provides an end-to-end solution for collecting, validating, managing, securing, and auditing geoscientific and operational data.
At its core, SABLE delivers structured, relational database functionality, layered with tools that support offline data capture, assay quality control, and regulatory compliance auditing. It replaces fragmented, error-prone processes with a centralised, scalable, and standards-aligned system—designed to ensure data integrity, usability, and governance from field to boardroom.
Core Platform – Store IT
Store IT is the central engine of the SABLE solution. It provides:
- Centralised, secure data storage for all project information.
- Integrated user security and validation controls, ensuring consistency and accountability.
- Configurable reporting through SABLE® View, enabling visualisation of both primary and secondary data.
- Customised data interfacing with third-party applications through flexible exports and views.
Designed to align with industry best practices and regulatory frameworks (for example, JORC 2012, SAMREC, NI 43-101), Store IT ensures that geoscientific data can be trusted, audited, and scaled across multiple phases and stakeholders.
Field Data Capture – Log QM
Log QM enables field teams to capture and validate data offline, using devices suited to rugged, remote conditions. It offers:
- An offline database environment that mirrors live standards and validation rules.
- Real-time validation at the point of capture, reducing post-fieldwork correction.
- A robust alternative to spreadsheets, eliminating issues such as version conflicts, data redundancy, and manual errors.
- Seamless syncing back to the central database when connectivity is restored, ensuring clean, standard-compliant data flows back into the system.
Log QM enhances productivity and data quality, especially in regions where network access is inconsistent or unavailable.
Compliance and Governance – Audit QM
Audit QM provides a full suite of tools for auditing, compliance tracking, and governance monitoring. Its capabilities include:
- Real-time tracking of data management activities within the CORE database.
- SOX and Segregation of Duties (SoD) compliance reporting, supporting transparency and role-based accountability.
- Automated report generation, customised to stakeholder needs (Data Managers, Auditors, Owners).
- Alerts for transgressions or policy violations, plus automated signoff features to verify data integrity.
By embedding compliance into the data lifecycle, Audit QM simplifies regulatory audits and strengthens governance practices across the organisation.
Sample Tracking – TrackSamp
TrackSamp governs the full lifecycle of field samples, ensuring quality, traceability, and compliance from pit to lab. It provides:
- Barcode-driven sample ID generation and SOP-based sample management.
- Workflow automation for dispatch, laboratory registration, and analysis requests.
- Real-time sample tracking and comprehensive audit trails.
- Integration with LIMS IT for seamless result capture and validation.
TrackSamp reduces manual effort, minimises errors, and ensures compliance with QA/QC policies and mineral reporting codes—delivering a robust, traceable sampling process.
Coordinate Derivation – CoordGen
CoordGen delivers a unified approach to coordinate derivation through a standardised de-surveying process. It provides:
- A single, project-wide de-survey algorithm for generating X, Y, and Z coordinates for any depth-logged feature.
- Support for key interpolation methods such as Minimum Curvature, Balanced Tangent, and others.
- Tools for calculating top, middle, and bottom coordinates of logged geological features.
- Improved alignment and confidence across modelling, estimation, and analysis tasks.
CoordGen eliminates inconsistencies introduced by multiple de-survey algorithms, offering a single source of truth for positional data used in downstream interpretation and reporting.
Geotechnical Evaluation – Rock MR
Rock MR supports robust geotechnical logging and rock mass classification based on global best practices. It enables:
- Calculation of rock mass ratings using standards such as Q (Barton), RMR (Bieniawski), GSI (Hoek & Brown), and MRMR (Laubscher).
- A centralised, configurable interface for managing calclogs and audit trails.
- Transparent configuration and flexible setup of multiple classification workflows.
- Graphical validation and reporting through integration with SABLE® View.
By embedding structural and material data into trusted classification schemes, Rock MR enhances geotechnical insight and project risk management.
Spatial Visualisation – Spatial QM
Spatial QM enables users to view and validate data in 2D and 3D, improving situational awareness and data quality. It offers:
- A central platform for spatial data visualisation, including integration with third-party spatial datasets.
- Spatial selection tools to support data validation, audit, and exploration.
- Unlimited user access without dependency on high-cost external GIS tools.
- Support for collaborative interpretation and communication across disciplines.
With Spatial QM, stakeholders gain the ability to review and validate information in context, supporting faster, better-informed decisions and reduced reliance on standalone mapping software.
Assay QA/QC – Lab QM
Lab QM handles the import, validation, and quality control of laboratory assay results. It supports:
- Import of assay data and other external datasets (e.g. coordinates, diglines, survey data).
- Automated QA/QC protocols to check for anomalies, duplicates, and errors.
- Acceptance/rejection workflows to ensure only validated data enters active branches.
- Statistical analysis tools and QA/QC reports, aiding decision-making and compliance.
Lab QM ensures that analytical data entering SABLE meets both project requirements and industry standards, reducing the risk of misinformed decisions based on flawed or unverified results.
LIMS IT
LIMS IT is an automated, standard reporting format for all laboratories for all operations and data sets. It is based on a per-result XML format; that is, each result value is associated with its analyte (result ID), UOM, method of analysis, repeat, ticket ID and result status.
Examples of the LIMS IT functionality are:
- The ETL Mapper Tool, which allows users to define and configure their own XML or CSV templates to import data from external sources, such as laboratories and survey departments
- Direct interfacing with internal laboratories for streamlined sample dispatching and automated collection of assay results
Dashboard Reporting – Work IT
Work IT allows for real-time reporting through the Dashboard platform, resulting in quick decision making and improved productivity by allowing users to generate weekly, monthly and quarterly reports quickly.
