View and Configure Plane and Trace Properties

Plane properties can be viewed by selecting any existing plane on the 3D image in the Image Viewer. When a plane is selected, its properties display in the Property Panel.

Note: Not all properties display for every plane.

Activity Steps

  1. Left-click a plane in the Main Canvas.

The plane properties display in the Properties Tab of the Property panel.

  2. Configure the following options as required.
    • Appearance field group:
      • Name
      • Show Fitted Plane – Whether to display the plane in the Main Canvas. Select from True or False.
      • Colour
    • Attributes field group:
    • Note: Options in this field group cannot be edited.

      • Dip – Dip amount in degrees.
      • Dip Direction – Dip direction in degrees.
      • Centroid E – Easting (X) coordinate of the centroid of the discontinuity.
      • Centroid N – Northing (Y) coordinate of the centroid of the discontinuity.
      • Centroid RH – Height (Z) coordinate of the centroid of the discontinuity.
      • Persistence – Maximum chord length, or persistence of the discontinuity, in metres.
      • Weighting – Weighting applied as the result of the Terzaghi sampling bias selection.
      • End To End Length – Sum of the distances between each point that forms the discontinuity.
    • Custom field group:
      • [Schema Entry] – Entries in the current schema. See Schemas.
    • Plane Fit Quality field group:

Note: Options in this field group cannot be edited.

      • Plane Displacement – Standard deviation of the points that form the plane from its centroid.
      • Plane Orientation – Standard deviation of the orientation of the facets that form the plane.
      • Number of Plane Points – Number of spatial points used to fit the plane.
    • Terminations field group:
      • Start Terminated – Start point of the trace that terminates against the structure. Select from True or False.
      • End Terminated – End point of the trace that terminates against the structure. Select from True or False.
