Support status: Supported.

To access this driver:

  1. Display the Data Import screen. This screen is displayed when import-loading and when adding a file association to the current project. In all cases, functions are found on the Data ribbon.

  2. Select the Common 3D Models Driver Category and the Wireframe Data Type.

Supported Data Types

The Common 3D Models driver category contains drivers supported by the Open Asset Import Library. These are presented in your data import using the following data categories:
  • Common 3D models: a range of industry-standard wireframe/mesh formats are supported, including .fbx, .3ds and others.
  • Common Grids: a collection of drivers to import block model grid file formats including ERMapper .ers and .ecw, Geosoft .gxf and others.
  • Common vectors: string and point import drivers, including .dxf, .dgn, MapInfo .mif and more.
  • Common point clouds: common point cloud formats including LIDAR .las, .laz and .ntf.
  • OBJ: a dedicated driver for importing Wavefront Object (.obj) files
  • PLY: a dedicated driver for importing Stanford Polygon Library File (.ply) files

Drag and drop support is provided for OBJ and PLY file formats.
