Import DGN Wireframe

Activity steps

  1. In the Data Import dialog, select the CAD Driver Category.

  2. Select the DGN (Points) Data Type.

  3. Click OK.

    The Read drawing file screen displays.

  4. Tags have a location in the drawing (the same as text), their main purpose is to attach data to other geometry:

    1. If Include tag data is selected, and a tag is encountered and is associated with other geometry being loaded, the data from the tag will be appended to that geometry’s TAGTEXT column, using the Multiple text separator to divide entries.

    2. If Include tag data is unselected, tag data is ignored during import.

  5. Choose how cell text is handled during import:

    1. if Copy cell text to all cell triangles is selected, any text entities found within a cell will have their contents appended to the CELLTEXT column of any non-text entities being loaded, using the specified Multiple text separator to divide entries.

  6. Specify how the contents of shared cells will be managed:

    1. Select Include the contents of shared cells to import data that references shared cells.

    2. Unselect Include the contents of shared cells to ignore shared cell contents during import.

  7. Choose how individual text values in data columns are differentiated in the imported file using Multiple text separator.

  8. To control the aspects of the incoming data file that will be affected by your import settings:

    1. Select All Levels to ensure that all levels are imported, and affected by subsequent setting changes. Selecting this entry will hide the table of available levels/layers in the selected file.

    2. Unselect All Levels to deselect any level (layer) number to filter the data that is imported.

  9. Review the file information at the bottom of the screen.

  10. Click OK.

  11. If importing a file to a Studio project, the Import Files screen displays.
  12. Use the Import Files screen:

    1. Choose which Files to create and associate with your project.

    2. Confirm the Import Fields for this operation.

    3. If required, choose how to Rename Fields during import.

    4. Click OK.

      Files references are added to the project.
