Export Datamine Block Model

This screen is shown as part of the export of Datamine files, and is used to configure where the resulting file is saved, field description changes during export, and other export-related settings for this data type.

Activity steps

  1. Using the Data Export screen, select the Datamine Driver Category.

  2. Select the Block Models Data Type.

  3. Click OK.

    The Datamine Block Model screen displays.

  4. Either specify an Output file path and name or use the browse button to do the same. The path will default to your current local project folder path, plus the current overlay name, with a .dm extension.

  5. If one is required, enter a file Description.

  6. To choose which fields will be exported:

    1. Click Select Fields.

    2. Select one or more fields in the target file to export.

      Warning: this list includes system fields for the selected data type. If they are not exported, your product may not recognize your data type if it is reloaded, which, for a 3D object, may prevent it from being displayed.

    3. Click OK.

      The Select Fields screen is dismissed.

  7. To rename data fields during export:

    1. Click Rename Fields.

    2. Select the field conversion you wish to edit.

    3. If you want to change the order in which field name conversion is applied, use Raise or Lower to move the instruction higher or lower in the list.

      Note: field names are automatically concatenated to either 8 or 23 characters if exporting in Datamine format (depending on your system mode).

    4. To edit a field name conversion instruction, select Edit and adjust From and To values.

      Note: Fields can be an alphanumeric or numeric, and must adhere to the restrictions described below:Fields must not start with the following characters: "*", "&", "@", "!", "?", ".".

      Fields must not contain spaces, or the following characters: ",", "!", " :", "*", "&", "=", "()".

    5. Delete a conversion instruction if required.

  8. If exported data contains a field representing a color code, use Datamine Color Field to select which of the exported fields are mapped to a color data column in the resulting file. This field is mapped automatically if a suitable field description is detected.

  9. Click OK to complete the export.
