Select Data Source

This generic dialog is used throughout ODBC import and export processes, and determines whether the data source is machine or file-based, as well as the type of mechanism used to read that data.

It is provided by your operating system , rather than Datamine, as a proprietary data source selection utility.
Clicking Help in this dialog displays context-sensitive help information, using the following tabs:

• File Data Source: allows you to connect with a data source that has file data source names (DSNs). A file-based data source, not necessarily user-dedicated or local to a computer, can be shared among all users with the same drivers installed.

• Machine Data Source: allows you to connect with a data source that has a user data source name (DSN) or a system DSN. Machine data sources are specific to the machine, and cannot be shared.

The type of data source that is selected depends on the format of the file that contains the required data. This choice affects the extent and type of dialog(s) shown during this stage of import/export.
