Import ODBC String Data
The Strings screen is shown as part of the ODBC data import process and is used to define key string data fields and to filter incoming data.
- Choose the String Unique Identifier (SID). All data rows containing this ID are treated as forming part of the same polygon element.
-
Choose a PN (Polyline Number) attribute. This key field must be present, in some form, as a data column in the incoming file. It determines the ordering of data rows that comprise the polygon - and subsequently, the direction of the line that creates the polygonal boundary.
Important: PN must be mapped correctly to ensure that data integrity is maintained between the external file, and resulting object(s) in memory.
- Coordinate Fields (those fields in the incoming file representing positional information) are typically mapped automatically, however, you can select any field in the incoming file to act as a coordinate field, for each axis.
- Choose the Data Fields to import. Default: All checked. Only checked attributes will be imported.
-
To see the SQL query representing import instructions, check SQL Query view the SQL statement.
-
Click OK.
- If importing a file to a Studio project, the Import Files screen displays.
-
Use the Import Files screen:
-
Choose which Files to create and associate with your project.
-
Confirm the Import Fields for this operation.
-
If required, choose how to Rename Fields during import.
-
Click OK.
Files references are added to the project.
