Import Surpac Model

Surpac and Datamine block model data specifications are different, and various data transformations occur when importing or exporting to the Surpac format.

In essence, the main difference is in the way blocks are stored. Datamine models are either regular or sub-celled (meaning a parent cell is subdivided) whereas the Surpac format supports the concept of a 'super block', a single super-cell that represents a relatively large cuboid area. When importing Surpac block model data, you can optionally alter block size to compensate for any data size increase that may result from splitting up super block data into records that fit a Datamine model prototype. See Configure Surpac Model Scaling

Activity steps

  1. Using the Import Data screen, select the SurpacDriver Category and the Block ModelData Type.

  2. Click OK.

  3. Choose whether to reblock the incoming file to minimize the increase in data records. A message indicates the number of potential blocks that will be created if import continues without reblocking.

    1. If you choose to reblock (recommended), click Yes.

The Surpac Block Scaling screen appears. See Configure Surpac Model Scaling.

    2. If you choose not to reblock and generate a potentially large number of cells, click No and skip to step 7.

  4. The Current Block Size is shown on the left and the imported New Block Size on the right.

Use the up and down arrows for each of the major axes to set a Scale Factor. As this value changes, the New Block Size is updated.

  5. A message appears indicating the number of blocks in the imported object.

  6. Click OK.
  7. If importing a file to a Studio project, the Import Files screen displays.
  8. Use the Import Files screen:

    1. Choose which Files to create and associate with your project.

    2. Confirm the Import Fields for this operation.

    3. If required, choose how to Rename Fields during import.

    4. Click OK.

Files references are added to the project.
