Visualizing Data in 3D |
3D Window Visualization
Datamine products have long featured a Visualizer facility to enable users to quickly view loaded data sets in a variety of different ways. The 3D window is a natural progression of this facility. You render your data for a multitude of different reasons, with the 3D window providing the flexibility to match an impressive array of situations, from simple visualization of geometry to real-time realization of mine resources operating within photo-textured worlds.
The 3D window's visualization capabilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
-
Full scene, object group, or independent item visualization, with full spin, pan and zoom controls. All operations are performed in real-time, and Datamines renowned rendering engine offers impressive results even on low specification hardware.
-
Photographic texture support, including georeferenced textures. This facility is only available via the 3D window.
-
Context-sensitive configuration allowing you to set the display properties (e.g. transparency, base format, border, color, exaggeration etc.) for any data object within a scene.
-
The 3D window derives data from your project files, but allows you to 'spawn' as many copies and variations of data as are required. Additional data can be created and visualized instantly.
-
Environmental effects, such as lighting, sky and fog can be applied without leaving the 3D window.
Setting Auto-Spin and Auto-Roll
Hold down the <Shift> key and use the left or right arrows to start an automatic rotation of the contents of the 3D window. Subsequent presses of the relevant direction key can be used to speed up/slow down the rotation, or stop it and reverse direction. Similarly, you can use the up and down arrows to instigate an automatic roll.
