Project Data - Other Files

Using the Other Files section of the Project Data bar

Project Data Control Bar - Other Files

To access this sub-folder:

  • The Other Files folder is a sub-folder of your Project Data control bar. It stores reference files for your Studio Mapper project that are not located in your Mapper database.

"Other" files are local files that sit in your local working environment, and are used to support your field data capture projects, but are not part of the Mapper Database. This data can be automatically reloaded when your project is closed and reopened. Files of any supported type can be added.

The Other Files folder will only appear if your project contains reference data.

You can drag and drop any reference files into a 3D or map window to load and (if supported) display them.

You can add reference data to your project using the Setup ribbon's data controls.

These files can be located anywhere accessible to the Studio Mapper application (local, network, wide area network) and are referenced within your Studio Mapper project file. These file references will persist until you remove them, using the Project Data control bar. If files are no longer available (for example, if you are working on a portable device and no longer attached to the network), you will be alerted when the project is opened.

Reference data can include a wide range of types, for example:

    • Strategic and resource models to be updated with latest field data
    • Mine layout data representing multiple mines and locations
    • Standard display legend files (.elg)

Files listed in this section may or may not be loaded into memory (whereupon they become "objects") and are visible in the 3D Global window.

Data Categories

These reference files are segregated according to the following data types, and data can appear in multiple folders. The number of items within each section is displayed in brackets.

Two general folders exist: "All Files" and "All Tables". The former shows Datamine binary files associated with the current project whereas the latter shows any data associated with the project, regardless of file type.

Other folders will be added based on the recognized project file types.
